MAYOR’S CITYWIDE COMMUNITY CLEANUP DAY 2021

Join Mayor Jerry Dyer, Beautify Fresno and hundreds of volunteers across the city for the inaugural “Mayor’s Citywide Community CleanUP Day”, our largest summer litter cleanup and beautification event.

We’re inviting non-profits, service clubs, schools, churches, businesses, and individuals to serve our community on Saturday, August 14 by picking up litter from parks, streets, and other public areas.

Choose your own area to clean, which could be anywhere that needs a little TLC!
(All self-selected cleanup sites must be within the City of Fresno.)

OR you can join us at any one of our four Beautify Fresno hub cleanup sites:

  • D1 – Ashlan Corridor between Parkway and Polk
(in cooperation with Refinery West Church)
  • D3 – Downtown around City Hall and Community Regional Medical Center
(in cooperation with the Downtown Fresno Partnership)
  • D5 – Butler and Chestnut area around Fresno Pacific University
(in cooperation with Every Neighborhood Partnership)
  • D7 – Blackstone Corridor between Shields and Ashlan
(in cooperation with Fresno Metro Ministry and Better Blackstone Association)

Beautify Fresno will provide all the supplies and all you need to do is to sign up, show up and clean up between 8:00 – 10:00 AM! (Supplies are offered FREE to registered volunteers – paper picker, gloves, trash bags – with no need to return the items.)

What is the Mayor’s Citywide Community CleanUP Day?

The Mayor’s Citywide Community CleanUP Day will be the single largest community cleanup and beautification event in Fresno, presented by Beautify Fresno. We’re inviting non-profits, service clubs, schools, churches, businesses, and individuals to pick up litter from parks, streets, creeks, and other public areas on Saturday, August 14.

What are the goals for this event?

Beautify Fresno works to ensure our city is a cleaner, greener, more beautiful place to live. No one individual can do this alone – it takes all of us. This is why we invite people like you to participate in our community activities and support our programs.

The heart of Beautify Fresno is our volunteers. Since the beginning of the year, nearly 4,500 volunteers have removed over 23 tons of trash from Fresno’s streets, parks, neighborhoods, parking lots, and industrial areas.

Who can participate?

Everyone! Individuals, community organizations, businesses, non-profits, service clubs, sports teams, and scout troops all are welcome to participate in this event.

What ages can participate?

Youth, teens, and adults are welcome to participate.

Can volunteers choose a location to clean up?

Yes. Volunteers are encouraged to choose a location that is important to them. Locations can include parks, streets, school campuses, waterways, or even empty lots. Beautify Fresno will also choose

What do I do with the trash bags and/or recycling that was collected?

If possible, take your trash and recyclables to one of our designated cleanup hub locations. Locations are listed on the main page for the Mayor’s Citywide Community CleanUP Day.

If you cannot transport your collected trash and recyclables, schedule a pick-up with our collection crews. First, place all bagged trash and recycling together in a few piles as possible. Contact Beautify Fresno at (559) 621-8626 or email info@beautifyfresno.org.

You can also use the City’s free FresGO mobile app and submit a pickup request directly from your mobile phone. Please provide specific location details of your trash pile (street names, block numbers, landmarks, etc). Photos can be uploaded and are helpful to our collection crews so that no bags or items are missed.
